INTRODUCING THE GOOGLE IMPACT CHALLENGE WINNERS
7800 Applications, 34 Organisations Selected, $25 Million in Funding: The Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls.
We are excited to join Google.org in announcing the 34 funding recipients of the Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls! The $25M opportunity is funding nonprofits and social enterprises around the world helping women and girls to reach their full economic potential and strengthen the well-being of communities recovering from COVID-19.
In celebration of this announcement, this film features several of the selected organisations and a spoken word performance by Amanda Gorman, who served as an Expert Panelist for the challenge.
Initiatives such as the Impact Challenge are crucial to accelerating world progress because Goal 5; Gender Equality, sits at the heart of achieving all 17 of the Global Goals. Only by harnessing the potential of all women and girls, will we be able to recover equitably from the pandemic and create a better world for everyone by 2030.
More applications were received for this opportunity than any other Impact Challenge in history, all filled with bold and innovative ideas to create a more equitable economic reality for women and girls. The proposals were evaluated on four key criteria: innovation, impact, feasibility and scalability and the 34 selected organisations have outlined projects that will support women and girls, especially those in geographically, economically or socially marginalized populations, reach their full economic potential.
In addition to funding of up to $1 million each, recipients will participate in a four-month accelerator program led by Google’s Accelerator and Women Techmakers communities, in partnership with Vital Voices to move their projects forward. Select organizations will also receive a Google.org Fellowship and dedicated Ad Grants to promote their mission.
